Dear Twin Lakes Homeowner:
We are “Homeowners for Twin Lakes”, a growing group of concerned residents. If you feel that you or one of your neighbors has been dealt with unfairly by the HOA Board then we have a solution for you. We believe that the focus of the board should be on treating its members with equality, dignity and honesty. We believe the board should represent all homeowners. We want to see this board change from a ruling board to a governing board.
The Twin Lakes Homeowner’s Association annual meeting will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Three of the board members will be up for re-election. Instead of keeping the status quo on the Board, you can elect candidates who care about your interests.
Soon you will receive a packet in the mail from the board regarding the annual meeting, and it will ask you to designate the current board as your proxy. If the Board, through proxies, holds a majority of the votes at the annual meeting, they will elect whomever they want.
We will be nominating three well-qualified candidates from the floor. Their bios are on the back of this page. Please attend the meeting and vote for the candidates you feel will best represent you. Or, if you are not able to attend the annual meeting, designate one of us as your proxy and we will vote on your behalf.
Make your voice heard! Getting us your proxy to us is easy; we will even pick it up if you like! Contact us or send us your proxy by June 2nd, 2010. Questions are welcome and we encourage you to join us.

Candidate Bios
Charles J. Douglas: After 20 years of honorable service with the United States Army, I retired in 1980 at Ft. Lewis Washington as the First Sergeant of a Military Police Company. Afterwards I joined the King County Sheriff’s Office where I retired after serving 25 years as a Sheriff Detective. While employed with the Sheriff Department I held several positions of leadership and responsibility including the opportunity to work directly with the residents of the Twin Lakes community, which as of this date I have been a proud resident for 13 years. I have spent the majority of my life protecting and serving my country as well as my community. And with that same sense of pride and commitment, I am seeking a Board position with the Homeowners Association because it appears that on the current one there are no advocates for the rights of the homeowners of Twin Lakes. It is my sincere desire to become “that voice” for all that has been missing for many years.
Philip Pinkstaff: As a commercial real estate appraiser with over 20 year’s experience, I recognize the land use issues that affect neighborhoods. In addition, I have been hired by real estate attorneys as an expert witness regarding real estate valuation. While I am not as well versed in real estate law, I stand ready to assist this community in any way possible in arriving at the best solution. I currently work for the Washington State Department of Revenue. Previously I was self-employed for 12 years. My family and I have lived in Twin Lakes since 1993. Both of our teenage sons were born here, with the oldest currently attending Decatur High School. It is my sincere desire to use not only my professional expertise, but my personal ability to work on community-based issues that enhance the quality of life in Twin Lakes.
Ted Straub: I am a married, 58-year-old retired carpenter who has lived in twin lakes for nine years. I have 20+ years experience as a union carpenter; I have served on numerous committees and I have held offices within the local carpenters’ regional council. As a former union leader with a Masonic affiliation, who has taught organizing, negotiating contracts, and taking the lead role in national hiring programs, I have a full working knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Order and parliamentary procedure. At the local level I was a union delegate to affiliated King County organizations and apprenticeship programs. As a member of the TLHOA board I would bring to the forefront my wealth of knowledge of parliamentary procedure and experienced negotiating skills, coupled with a common sense approach to positive-result oriented problem solving that will seek win-win results for all involved. As a trustee of the TLHOA it would be my wish to restore a sense of openness, fairness and equality to all who reside in our community.
